Are you creating an event that is extremely popular, that is expected to fill up within minutes? Will there be hundreds (or even thousands) of people trying to register to your event at the start of the registration? Lucky you!
Here are some tips that can ensure a smooth participant experience:
1. Don't publish the link beforehand
Tell the participants that the link will be published e.g. on your homepage at the start of the registration. This way participants do not benefit from refreshing the Lyyti registration link just before the registration and thus create an unnecessary loading of the registration page.
2. Optimise event design
We understand that your registration page needs to look neat. But using a heavy design (a large background image, for instance) could create unnecessary pressure to servers when several hundreds or thousands of participants refresh the page - meaning there is a lot of data to be reloaded to the page.
Using a lighter design (e.g. a background with one colour) will contain less data that needs to be loaded, should the participants refresh the registration page in large numbers.
3. Limit the amount of questions asked on the registration page
By limiting the amount of questions, you also limit the amount of data our servers need process.
Once the registration rush is over and (hopefully) your event is full, you can always add more questions to the registration page.
Then, you can send a personal registration link to those who have registered and ask them kindly to update their information.
4. Select your event registration start time carefully
Please be aware that 9.00AM on a weekday is the most popular time for any event's registration to start, so if you move it up to the afternoon, there will be a lot less traffic within the registration pages.
5. Keep your registration complementary
Even though it is possible to collect payments in Lyyti, Lyyti is first and foremost an event management software, not a ticketing tool.
Large amount of payment traffic via integration will create unnecessary pressure to our servers, as payments will add yet another interface to be handled.
6. Select Settings carefully
Avoid settings such as: Reservation is made immediately and reservation is kept for unlimited time.
Reservation that is made immediately will cause event to become fully booked by those who have opened the registration page.
Reservation should expire after x minutes. If reservation is kept for unlimited time, the place is reserved also for those with no intention to finish their registration, without ever really expiring.
