- How to get more space to your Material bank
What is the Material bank
Your material bank is like your cloud in Lyyti. You can upload files to the material bank and they will be hosted online in Lyyti. The accepted file types are PNG, JPG, GIF. Other file types such as TIFF, BMP and JIFF are automatically converted to JPG when trying to upload. Other file types are not accepted. The file can be max. 10 MB so all files that are over 10 MB are not accepted.
Once a file has been uploaded to the material bank, a link to the file is created. The file URL can be shared with your participants for instance through an email or on the registration page. All files added to the file bank can be used in or outside of Lyyti.
The material bank is personal to each users so other users in your organisation cannot see the files you have uploaded in Lyyti.
Different functions in Material bank
On the material bank page you can do different actions to manage your files. Open the material bank by clicking Materials > Material bank.
On the material bank page you can do the following:
- Add a file
- Copy the URL of a file
- Preview files
- Edit the name or/and replace the uploaded file
- Remove files
- See how much space you have left
Upload a file to the Material bank
Adding a file to the file bank is easy, just follow the following steps:
- Click Materials on the top menu and choose Material bank from the menu on the left. Click Add file.
- Name the file. We recommend naming the file with the name of the event, together with a short description. This way you can easily identify the file you are looking for.
- Select a file from your computer
- Save.
You can find all your files under the tab Material bank in the main menu and copy the URL address to a specific file to use it in your event in Lyyti.
Tip: If you notice that the file you added has a mistake or you need to update it, you can edit the file, i.e upload a new file under the same file name. The file will automatically update and whenever someone clicks on the file link, they will be able to download the new, updated file. The link will not change.
Problems uploading a file to the Material bank?
If you are experiencing issues with uploading a file to the Material bank don't worry. There are a few things you can check.
- The size of the file is too big. One file can be max 10MB. Files larger than 10 MB cannot be uploaded unfortunately.
-
You have run out of material bank space in your organisation. You can see the storage space available to your organisation at the bottom of the material bank page, and how much of it is used.
Your files are personal but the storage space available is shared between all users of your organisation. It is a good idea to occasionally see through the files and remove old files from taking up space. You can only remove your own files, so if needed, you can recommend that your colleagues also remove old files from their own material bank.
- There is a problem with the name of the file. It is important that the actual type of the file is the same as the type written on the name of the file. For instance if the file is actually a file.png file but the name of the file you are trying to upload is file.jpg the file cannot be uploaded because the type does not match. If the file types do not match change the name of the file to match each other and try uploading it to the material bank again. Check also that the file type is written in lowercase so for instance change file.PNG > file.png and try uploading it again.
- The file type is wrong: accepted file types are PNG, JPG, GIF
How to get more space to your Material bank
If you need more space to your Material bank, you can:
-
Remove old or unnecessary files from your own file bank and ask your colleagues to do the same in their own material bank.
You can select multiple files to remove them in one-go. Please note that if a file is deleted, it will disappear from your events and your emails, even emails that were sent. So make sure the file is not needed in your active events before deleting it. Once a file is deleted, it cannot be recovered.
