This article describes how you can create participant type specific sections to your event website that is connected with a registration page. In order to use the participant type sections, first link the event website to an event with the help of instructions in this article. Participant type specific sections allow you to select what information is shown to the participant on the event website like for instance tailoring a different agenda section for VIP guests and normal guests. Participant specific sections can be user with open participant type specific event website links or with the personal links.
This article consists of the following sections:
- Add participant type specific sections
- Create participant type specific event website links
- Using the personal links together with participant type specific event website sections
Add participant type specific sections
When you have created an event with participant types and the event has been linked to an event website, you will be able to see the same participant types on the event website editing tool when editing or creating sections.
In order to create participant type specific sections to your event website you need to first do these steps:
- Create a registration page with different participant types
- Create an event website and link it to your event or create the event website directly from the event
As an example of participant types in the event: Normal, VIP and Student
When the event with participant types is linked to the event website you can start creating different sections and determine which participant types will be able to see the content.
In this article we are focusing on creating different agenda section for VIP guests because they are invited also to a pre-party before the actual event. Normal guests and Students are only attending the main event so their agenda does not include the pre-party. This is only an example and the feature can be used also in other sections.
Create or edit the section you want to focus on:
- Open the event website in the editing view
- Create a new section or edit an already existing section
- In the section editing view, you can now see a drop-down menu with all the same participant types as in the linked event (if you cannot see the participant types, check if the event website is linked to an event that has participant types)
- Select which participant types are allowed to see this content and save: in the example I'll only select this to be visible to the VIP participant type
- Now the agenda section will only be visible to VIP quests when they access the event website through a participant type specific link
- You can next create the agenda section for all other participant types: copy the section and edit the visibility and the content of the section
- Save
Participant type specific sections need to be created separately for each language if the event website has been created in multiple languages.
Create participant type specific event website links
In order to use the participant type specific event website you need to first create participant type specific links that you can then share to participants as open links or by using a personal invitation link.
Create participant type specific links with the following steps:
- Link your event to the event website
- Create participant type specific sections
- Go to the settings tab on the right side editor
- Click on "edit" next to the page management heading
-
Create new links for each participant type and save
- Now you will be able to see the participant type specific links on the settings tab and copy them in order to send them to the preferred recipients.
If you have created an event website in multiple languages the participant type specific links need to be created for each language version. Copy the participant type specific event website link from the needed language version.
Using the personal links together with participant type specific event website sections
You need to create the participant type specific links even if you plan on using the personal links. After you have created the participant type sections and the links, you can now go ahead and add the personal links to the event website and to the invitation message. With personal event website link, you can invite participant types to the event so that each participant type sees the sections according to the participant type and can open their personal registration form from the event website.
An example:
You have an event with two participant types: regular participant and vip participant. These two participant types have a different agenda for the event day.
Solution:
Create participant type specific agenda sections to the event website > one for regular participants and one for the vip guests. Add the personal link to the event website and to the invitation. Send the invitation. Each participant type will open the event website and see the agenda that is meant for them and are able to register to the pre-selected participant type.
